Why Should Wineries Reduce Water Consumption and Wastewater Strength?
In a survey conducted by BLOOM, almost 70% of medium-sized wineries cited rising water and wastewater management costs as a significant concern.
Most wineries in BC do not have sophisticated wastewater treatment systems to deal with their high-strength wastewater; in most cases, the untreated or marginally-treated wastewater is discharged into leach fields, infiltration ponds, or dry wells. This makes it even more important for BC wineries to make sure the strength and quantity of their wastewater is closely managed.
Reducing water consumption and wastewater strength can:
Are my water practices incurring unnecessary costs?
Are my water practices putting my reputation or growth plans at risk?
Am I sending valuable by-products down the drain?
